Why do cory catfish swim to the top

I think it makes them frisky, esp if the water is noticeably colder. What's your tank temp , and when you did a water change did you use Prime or another water conditioner? Atm its 26 celcius, it was 24 on sunday I had to change the heater abit tried to get to 25, I think its like u guys says they just trying to settled and are not used to pellets yet and trying to get food higher up, my sterbaI corys are chilling inside the cave all day and the surface are moving.

Never been a problem before I got rainbow fish and bolivian rams and a rbs shark that are acting normal. No gasping what I can see from any fish tho my rams are a bit red on gills but I think they allways has that?

Corydoras regularly take air in from the surface to breath and help their buoyancy. If the fish is doing it regularly several times a minute there could be a water quality problem or low oxygen levels in the water. Check the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH of the water. All Corydoras do best in groups of at least 6 or more of their own kind.
