The charts are also pasted on the boards on railway platforms. As part of the Green Initiative, the Indian Railways have decided to abolish the physical charts and now focus on e-initiatives. The IRCTC reservation charts offer a complete visual picture of the train layout, berth status, occupancy and more.
They are sending the reservation details of the passengers through SMS at the time of charting. Besides, there is an IVRS service, wherein the passengers can check the real-time status of their tickets by dialing the helpline number The IRCTC chart vacancy displays the comprehensive layout and the list of vacant berths present on a train. This will help passengers get information about any vacant berths that are available on the train after the chart is prepared.
The first reservation chart will be put up about 4 hours before the departure of the train while the second chart can be viewed online 30 minutes before the train departs. The second chart will show the changes in the seat allocations. The new feature will be available on both the web and mobile version of the IRCTC e-ticket booking platform.
This new interface will give the layout of nine classes used in the reserved trains of the Indian Railways and more than different coach layouts have been incorporated. If you click on that option, you will be redirected to a new page. Once you enter the details, click on 'Get Train Chart' option. This will give a chance to the passengers with unreserved tickets, a high probability of getting a confirm ticket even after chart preparation. This exercise will ensure optimum utilization of train accommodation as well as enhance the revenue of Railways.
Even booking of Tatkal tickets has become easy. Apart from ticket booking, it provides other options like checking train schedule, train running status, food ordering in train , checking PNR Status and others.
Now, this new feature will display the number of vacant berths after the final train chart preparation. Travelers can see the available vacant seats just before the departure of train or during the journey.
Current Reservation after Chart Preparation: Passengers planning to travel in a particular route with no confirm tickets can log in to IRCTC website and check the current reservation status which will display the total number of seats available in each class of travel.
Due to this upgradation, the chart now will be dynamic, which means it will be upgraded itself. As the train proceeds for the destination, the real-time availability of the berths are automatically updated. Vacant seats will be visible and can be reserved 4 hours before train departure from that station.
