Follow the tab for installing temporary CFW on all models first, then download Infinity. Then Exit USB mode. Open Infinity 2 and press X to install. Press X to reboot. Launch Infinity 2 again and press the left dpad. Select the custom firmware you are using and press X. There should now be a circle next to it. Press Home button to exit. There are 2 options for permanent CFW for the model. You can use cIPL flasher or use Infinity 2. CIPL flasher was meant for only and some models. Sony patched this with newer motherboard versions.
If your PSP is a newer version you will only be able to install Infinity. If it is an older version you can use cIPL flasher. If this worries you, please follow the steps to install Infinity 2. If it says TAv3 you can only use Infinity 2. Be careful installing a full permanent firmware to the , early model 's are usually okay, but the later models have a different motherboard.
If you have a later model , installing a full cfw could, but not always, lead to a bricked psp. This indefinitely goes for all 's as well. It's best to use a lite cfw. But the 's can get full cfw without getting bricked, unless you do something wrong, which is pretty hard to do. Just go to the 'Game' then 'Memory Stick' and launch it. However, in certain circumstances you can make this permanent. This varies between PSP models, chipsets and custom firmware support. Instead of having to manually boot the PRO firmware, a utility will write it to a secret portion of the PSP that controls the start-up process. This means when your PSP boots up, it will run the cfw instantly instead of needing manual activation. What are the benefits? If you use a large memory card that official firmware cannot detect, it will more likely be detected on boot by the custom firmware.
You no longer need to open up fast recovery, or even keep any of the custom firmware utilities on your PSP. However, your PSP must be able to support this as certain models do not. The Hackinformer guide will inform you whether this process is compatible with your PSP. Once done, it will reboot your PSP. Even without opening the fast recovery utility! If your device is not listed, you will need to install via Infinity.
